Houston Chronicle Endorses Peter "Lyn" René for District F

October 7, 2011 - Mediator and Westchase resident, Peter “Lyn” René announces he has received the Houston Chronicle’s endorsement in the Houston City Council District F race. The newly drawn district includes parts of Westchase, Alief, Mission Bend and parts of Fort Bend County.

 
"With his technical skills and record of community service, René is, from our point of view, the best choice on the ballot to represent District F constituents."

Meet Peter
Peter "Lyn" René was the Democratic  2008 candidate for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5, Place 1, which covers West, Southwest and Far West Houston, where he received over 124,000 votes (43%).  In 2009, Peter served as the Field and Volunteer Coordinator for Councilmember C.O. "Brad" Bradford's City Council At Large Position 4 campaign. He has lived in the Westchase District and Alief School District for over fourteen years.  Peter has over 15 years experience as a Information Technology Project Manager.  He is a Mediator and mediates civil cases in the Harris County Justice Courts, and is qualified to mediate civil cases in the County Courts and the State District Courts as well.  He volunteers his time mediating cases for the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center.

 

Peter is the Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of The Singing From The Soul Foundation, a non-profit performing arts organization (www.singingfromthesoul.org).  He established the organization in 2002, exclusively to provide formal training and scholarships to economically disadvantaged children and young adults of all backgrounds and diversities, for education and continuing studies in Classical Music, Classical Dance and Theater Arts. Peter also leads The Caribbean American Heritage Foundation of Texas, a Texas non-profit organization was established that promote the Caribbean Community and to highlight the contributions made by Caribbean culture in Texas.

Issues
My priorities for District F is to Provide Clear, Precise and Visible Leadership

  • Advocate for and fight  for the priorities and concerns of the people of District F
  • Provide Strong Voice on City Council to guarantee that District F gets the infrastructure improvements that are desperately needed, including street repairs and district beautification
  • Work closely with the Management Districts, Super Neighborhoods and other community organizations to maintain a safe, family oriented environment
  • Develop a Strong Relationship with  the school district, parent organizations and school administrators
  • Create a business friendly district to spur economic growth
  • Maintain good communications with the constituents of District F.
